I tripped up and fell onto a hardwood floor in my kitchen, suffering a compound wrist fracture.
My daughter telephoned an ambulance as the injury looked too severe to take me in a car. The ambulance arrived within 20 minutes and the paramedics were amazing.
On arrival at the RAH Paisley I was taken to triage for assessment. I was then taken up to the trauma assessment unit where they examined my wrist further. Every step of the way I was met with friendly faces who reassured me that everything would be fine. I was then taken to x-ray when it was discovered I had a really bad compound fracture. I was then informed that it would need to be put in a plaster cast and would be operated on as soon as they had availability.
My fall happened on the Friday and the operation was carried out on the Monday. My whole experience from start to finish was amazing. All the staff without exception were friendly, professional, and made you feel you were the only patient who mattered. They treated every patient in same professional and friendly manner. What a team.
I would just like to say a big thank you to all the staff in the Trauma Assessment Unit for their dedication and care. I came into hospital as a stranger and left as a friend. Thank you all so much ❤️
