"Recent visit to my local Health Centre"

About: Brechin Health Centre / Community Treatment & Care Centre (CTACS)

(as the patient),

Brechin Health Centre - attending the nurse for routine blood test. I was satisfied with the skills and professionalism of the nurse, Charlene, who was also very helpful in answering some of my questions. I did make a plea for a bike  parking (and securing) facility, as on many previous occasions I’ve had to lock my bike to a tree near the entrance, possibly causing a hazard for others entering and leaving. There is currently no provision for this at our Health Centre, when we - as a society - are trying to promote active lifestyles, as part of preventive measures to reduce lifestyle health issues. Something really needs to be done. Also, the car park is wholly inadequate for this century- most people seem to drive to the Health Centre (see previous point) and there are not enough spaces, especially since the local health board demolished and sold the infirmary next door. Brechin are constantly having to put up with less-than-adequate facilities, especially in comparison to neighbouring (similar) towns, all of whom have modern, state-of-the-art health facilities.

Dear Margaret77

Many thanks for taking the time to write to care opinion. your comments are appreciated

Message from Charlene;

Thank you for your lovely comments.

With regards to the bike rack since you have written we have now had a bike rack delivered to our practice and are just waiting on it being fitted so you should hopefully see this ready in the next week or so.

With regards to the parking situation we are aware of the issues and all relevant departments are also aware of the situation and awaiting further information from them regarding this.

Hi Margaret77

Thank you for telling your story on Care Opinion, I am glad to see you received good care from Charlene and am happy to see the Health Centre's response with regards to bike parking and securing and see that the installation of a bike rack is planned for the Centre - an excellent outcome to your feedback.

With regards to car parking we have been in touch with NHS Tayside Property Department who ensure the car park is in a fit condition for use but unfortunately there are no plans to expand this space at the moment.
