After being diagnosed with CFE/ME 5 years ago I had been managing the condition ok - until 2 years ago.
I was referred again - this time to Sarah, Clinical Nurse Specialist at Cornwall and Isles of Scilly ME/CFS Service for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. For the last year, she has been an incredible support. I have used a lot of the NHS services and received a lot of fantastic care over the years. On this occasion Sarah differed from previous help. She was clear, supportive, non-judgemental, had the time and the 'sunshine' I needed. She didn't 'help me'. She gave me the information, tools and advice so that I could help myself. She supported my life changes and guided me in the right direction. She also introduced me to a lot of scientific research for my condition that was new to me and helped validate my situation.
I can only hope that this service is available to others elsewhere. Thank you.
