I have been drinking heavy for about 10 years. This came on after a major operation and I was unable to work. I had too much time on my hands and began to drink. I then found myself homeless in 2022. I first approached Turning Point for help. I then sought help with Forward Trust.
This is my first detox and it took about 20 months to get a place here.
I felt grateful when I found out I place at DCDS.
On my first day I was nervous and anxious, however I soon settled in once I met the staff and other clients. It felt I was in the right place.
This is my 8th day before I go to re-hab and I feel amazing.
I found the groups really good, especially the meditation. I will try and carry this on as it really helps. I found the staff really helpful, and enjoyed the camaraderie with my fellow clients. We all supported each other.
This has been a really positive experience for me. I now look forward to re-hab.
