"Amazing care for chest infection"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I was sent to ED at the Royal a few days ago after a visit to the out of hours GP where he was worried about my chest. I’d had a cough for six weeks and was told it was ‘viral’ and would go away soon.

The a&e staff on for the night shift at the Royal from the nurses and Chris the healthcare assistant to Dr McConville the next morning were all amazing and went out of their way to ensure the best of care. They were all very reassuring, very attentive and the level of care was amazing. I know a&e gets a bad reputation because of wait times but their staff were amazing.

I was diagnosed with whooping cough and community acquired pneumonia and was then given antibiotics and fluids. The staff should be very proud of themselves they made someone feel so cared for.
