"Care and understanding of a very difficult situation"

About: Memory Services / Memory Service Clinic

(as a carer),

My Mam has been diagnosed with Dementia and we had our last appointment in the Memory Clinic in Edenderry House.

It was a Health Care Nurse (called Kim) who conducted the consultation and assessment with my Mam and then met with me. I had the good fortune to have previously met Kim back in August 2023.

Again she was very understanding and gave great information and recommendations for dealing with matters going forward. Kim was fully up to date on what had been happening since the last time we met.

She listened attentively to all that I had to say and offered excellent advice in return. She really put me at ease and enabled me to express any of my and my siblings current concerns. Again she was well informed and very professional in addressing these concerns but very compassionate at the same time.

There was no time pressure throughout the consultation and this allowed me to cover a significant amount of issues which gave me great relief and comfort. After our meeting I drafted up a written summary of our discussions to pass on to my siblings who in turn are also very grateful for Kim's insightfulness, kindness and relevant advice and suggestions for going forward.

Kim made it clear that I could call her at any time if I had any further concerns or worries.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to Kim for her care and understanding of what is a very difficult situation. A situation that has been made easier by a Health Care Professional called Kim.

My sincere thanks to her.
