"Loneliness and in need of reassurance"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

In for Day surgery at 8am and promptly seen.

Nursing staff were friendly, helpful and clear in their information.

Details collected  and explanation of what would happen well done.

Anaesthesia check completed by 9.30.

By late morning, I was the only patient left. The nursing staff seemed to be busy doing online learning (or something).

It would have been really kind if one of the staff could have popped along for a chat.

Eventually, one of the staff contacted the theatre to find out what was happening and managed to get some info so I was reassured.

Had the ward been busy, I could have understood that nurses did not have the time to chat but it would be good if nurses were alert to  the psychological effects of loneliness.

Dear Jamsk68,

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for the staff within Day Surgery at University Hospital Wishaw. While it can be a worrying time having to attend hospital it is reassuring to read that the nursing team were friendly and delivered information to you clearly.

While it is important for staff to keep on top of their professional development we appreciate you bringing this our attention, I'll be sure to pass this onto the team for future awareness.

I hope you are recovering well at home.

Best Wishes

Jen
