I recently attended an appointment with my brother, as he had caught his toenail on a tac which had been sticking up from his floor. It had ripped his toenail nearly completely off and he was bleeding profusely.
I managed to get a same day appointment with the ANP at Cos Lane. My brother has Parkinson's, lives alone and can be anxious when he has to attend medical appointments.
The ANP checked his toe, but due to the extent of his injury, the ANP needed to seek assistance from the Practice Nurse, Marilyn. Both were excellent with him but I felt Marilyn was just so calm and explained everything that was needed, including a podiatry appointment to have the nail removed completely. She explained to the ANP how best to dress his toe and this was done perfectly. Marilyn asked for him to be fitted into the end of her clinic the following day to have it checked for infection and redressed by herself.
I think in times when we are quick to complain, we also need to take time to compliment a job well done.
Both my brother and I would like to thank Marilyn, the ANP, Liz and all at Cos Lane for looking after him so well.
