"Lack of communication while waiting to go to theatre"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Dept of Scheduled Admissions

(as a relative),

Took my mum to get her second carpal tunnel procedure done today. She has been through the procedure before for the right hand.

Appointment was at 1pm, got told by medical staff that my mum would be first on the list and we have now been waiting 2.5 hours since arriving for her to go to theatres. No communication from nursing staff to tell us what's going on and about the wait.

At half past one the nurse said it would be an hour. It's now nearly 15:30. My mum hasn't even been offered a jug of water and she got told she could have sips till send. Well how can she without even having a jug of water. No nurse has checked on us in the last 2 hours or updated.

I understand the NHS is busy however last time she was here except from getting moved from 301/302 to the DOSA everything was brilliant and that was only in March. There is no communication or basic care from nursing staff, to not even have a nurse to check on her.

However when the nurse Chloe and student nurse Alyssa came in they listened to everything we said about how we felt and were so good with us and showed mum a lot of compassion even though my mum has had the procedure previously. Chloe remembers my mum from last time. She put mum at ease and communicated so well.
