"Treated with respect and great kindness"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My dad is 90, and had been feeling unwell for about two weeks. My sister described his symptoms which were similar to an episode where his blood sugars were high about 6 months ago. We bought a blood glucose monitor. My dad’s blood glucose was exceptionally high.

The instructions advised to seek immediate professional help. My dad’s GP was unable to help, so NHS 111 advised us to come to Wishaw A&E. My dad was triaged quickly. After a short wait my dad went through to the treatment unit. Although the unit was extremely busy, several health care professionals started emergency care for my dad.

Blood glucose was monitored every hour and adjustments were made in treatment depending on the hourly results. My dad received exemplary professional care from all staff and was treated with respect and great kindness. We would like to thank you very much.
