"My hospital visit"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / General surgery Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Urology

(as the patient),

I had a Prostate Arterial Embolisation procedure on the Tuesday at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth and on the Thursday started to feel unwell with a high temperature. I saw my local doctor who immediately arranged a hospital visit.

I arrived at Abbey Ward late on Thursday night and was immediately seen by members of staff and duty doctor, full set of Obs and multiple blood samples were taken and I was sent to Abbey ward and placed on an antibiotic drip overnight.

On the Friday I was transferred over to Dart ward.

In both these wards the care and attention I received was just amazing, I just felt so well cared for! A huge thank you to all the wonderful staff there.

The food was also very good, with a good choice of options (a bacon butty for breakfast would have gone down well!)

The only negative aspect of my visit (apart from the nightmare of trying to navigate the hospital grounds on arrival) was the very poor WI-FI coverage, it just wasn't there. In today's world of staying in touch it really needs updating! Deep in the hospital the phone signal was also very weak, to be expected, so the Wi-Fi is vital!

Again, a huge thank you to all the amazing staff.
