About: Dorset County Hospital

I was advised by 111 to attend the urgent care Department at Weymouth Hospital, seen promptly and told I should go to Accident and Emergency at Dorset County Hospital. The waiting area was full, there was nowhere to sit, a child was vomiting into a plastic bag, another person waiting went to find a vomit bowl for the child, there were two other small children in the room. It appeared there was only one nurse triaging patients. No one was checking the waiting area

After waiting for over an hour in severe pain, I gave up and went home, as I needed to take my prescribed analgesia. It appears there is no communication between the urgent care department at Weymouth and Dorchester Accident and Emergency, despite the fact that we are continually advised to seek help there or contact 111 before attending Accident and Emergency
