I was referred to a consultant, on his request, so he could arrange an MRI of my knee. He only did an X-ray and deduced that I had a sliver of cartilage that I had to live with until a knee replacement is required.
I had X-rays for my other knee post my unicompartmental replacement in 2018 and it was only after MRI and bone scans were carried out that cement and bone fragments were found in my knee (this was a 4-year process, where I was in considerable pain throughout), and resulted in two arthroscopy to correct.
I now see myself having to go through the same with my left knee or live a sedate life, where my quality of life and fitness will suffer considerably. I would like to get a referral to a particular consultant in Oswestry's Veterans Orthopaedic clinic, where I am sure he will understand the needs of an ex veteran to maintain a decent level of fitness and quality of life.
I would add that I suffered numerous knee injuries in the forces and have lived with this pain and discomfort for over 30 years, and it is gradually worsening and worsening.
