"Thanks to these wonderful people"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Xrays and scans Occupational Therapy Physiotherapy / Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Trauma & Orthopaedics / Major Trauma Ward Trauma & Orthopaedics / Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery Xrays and scans / MRI Scans

(as the patient),

I fell off a climbing wall, fell 5m, landed on my feet and broke both tibia and femur in each leg. I also fractured two vertebrae.  I was brought to A&E by ambulance, operated on the next day and brought back on my feet by doctors, surgeons, consultants, nurses, physio, OT, psychologists and so many other medical practitioners.

I received CT and MRI scans and X-rays. I felt every possible emotion each day and had to learn so many things again, like eating, dressing myself, self- care and walking. No words can describe the outstanding level of care that I received whilst in Ninewells, particularly in the Major Trauma Ward. The staff there supported me physically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. I can now walk on crutches and do almost everything for myself again thanks to these wonderful people and the tools they have given me. Today I am going home, 11 days after the accident, with the confidence, strength and tools to make a full recovery. Praise the Lord for the NHS!
