My wife was admitted to Ruthven Ward in New Craigs Hospital in Inverness from the nursing home in which she was residing after issues arose which the home were unable to deal with.
I was extremely worried about what to expect in a psychiatric hospital especially as I had expectations that it would probably be a long-term admission.
However, I could see from the first day that I had no need for such concerns.
The staff I met at the very start quickly showed that the care and support given to my wife was everything I could have wished for, which was hugely comforting especially under the circumstances.
Not only was my wife so well looked after, I was also hugely supported by the staff which absolutely got me through the stressful and traumatic times.
The treatment and support over the two years my wife was in New Craigs Hospital got her into a position to be able to return to a nursing home.
I will always be deeply grateful to everyone involved for all that was given to us both over those two years.
