"I will always be deeply grateful to everyone involved"

About: New Craigs Hospital / In-patient Services

(as a parent/guardian),

My wife was admitted to Ruthven Ward in New Craigs Hospital in Inverness from the nursing home in which she was residing after issues arose which the home were unable to deal with.

I was extremely worried about what to expect in a psychiatric hospital especially as I had expectations that it would probably be a long-term admission.

However, I could see from the first day that I had no need for such concerns.

The staff I met at the very start quickly showed that the care and support given to my wife was everything I could have wished for, which was hugely comforting especially under the circumstances.

Not only was my wife so well  looked after, I was also hugely supported by the staff which absolutely got me through the stressful and traumatic times.

The treatment and support over the two years my wife was in New Craigs Hospital got her into a position to be able to return to a nursing home.

I will always be deeply grateful to everyone involved for all that was given to us both over those two years.

Dear Carer/Guardian

Thank you for taking the time to share yours and your wife's experience of the care delivered by our dedicated team of staff in Ruthven Ward.

Being in hospital can sometimes be a confusing and frightening experience for a person. Your experience will go some way to reassure other carers who will experience the same anxiety as you about the prospect of their loved one coming into hospital.

Some may say our team were only doing their job, but it is reassuring to know and for others to hear that they do it well, with compassion and care, and ensure that carers are supported too during an admission to our hospital.

Thank you again for taking the time to tell us about your experience. I will make sure the team know about your feedback.

I wish you and your family well.
