"Thanking staff"

About: Older People's Services / Brechin/Montrose Older People's Services

(as a relative),

I wish to thank the staff who supported my relative at the end of her life.  My relative experienced your staff to be all kind and compassionate in their interactions with family, despite some family members being a challenge to staff by their conduct.

No amount of  'its our job' or 'what we do can ever justify being exposed to that' type of behaviour.

I wish to thank the involved staff who went above and beyond to safeguard my relative.  I wish to express my grateful thanks to those staff on behalf of my relative and myself, for the support and formal supervision to ensure all care and support that my relative was assessed as requiring was provided.

During the safeguarding process we all were updated despite attempts to exclude us from my relatives care decisions.  Visits to my relative were possible only from intervention from staff.

Thank you very much for providing this feedback and please accept my condolences on the loss of your relative, it is so important that the service gets the support we provide right particularly during challenging and difficult times and to safeguard an individual but particularly whilst supporting with end of life care. I will pass on your feedback to the staff in the team.
