I received a invoice for my relative for a period of respite within an Angus Care Home. This was a surprise to me. Then I asked the Social Worker how respite was paid and they informed me that they did not know and would have to find out.
I wish to state that I do not have a problem paying for respite but I wish to highlight the non transparency of how this was dealt with and lack of information provided when asked. I wonder if this is a training issue.
I contacted the Team Manager who was able to provide me with the requested information and in particular Care Home Fees Booklet.
I would suggest staff be reminded to ask if it is convenient to talk when they call.
I have found the process of being a carer stressful. I wish to remind staff that life adjustments occur in the most unexpected ways and can be rapid. I now I am being made to feel that I am asking for the world asking for a few days away together with my husband.
