I was admitted to hospital suddenly unaware of how ill I was. I had abscesses in my stomach. I was an inpatient at 3 South where absolutely everyone was amazing, professional, friendly and so kind.
After 15 days I was at my wits end wanting home but after having a drain put in place for a number of days, they hadn't gotten all the abscesses so I required further antibiotics intravenously and orally for four weeks. It was suggested at the time that ordinarily I'd have had to stay in hospital for these. But it was thought a PICC line would be a better choice for me and to have the community nurses call once a day to check me and give the antibiotics.
A truly amazing, professional lovable bunch of ladies. Pauline my wee angel came and spoke to me about the PICC line before putting it in place. I never felt it put in, nor felt any discomfort at any time while it was in place. And after 2 weeks only I had another scan which showed my abscesses had cleared and I needed no more antibiotics. The lovely Pauline was back first thing the next day to remove the PICC. Unbelievable speciality to be able to do. The greatest admiration for her and to everyone of each team, not forgetting my lovely Dr Mr Mahmood who had a very charming disposition. I will miss everyone I've met but am so thankful to be well again because of the joint efforts of these amazing people. May God help you continue your vocations x
