"Calling 111 for help and inappropriate responses"

About: London Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as a service user),

Terrible experiences this week where I rang 111 for help with regard to my mental health. It is part of my crisis plan to reach out for help and I don't take it lightly to ask 111 for help.

On Wednesday last I rang in distress but did explain myself. I was not suicidal but it was time to ask if a 111 Dr could call me back. I was berated for crying, then got cut off.

I called Samaritans and was discussing that 111 call had made me feel worse but I felt better for speaking to them. 111 got London Ambulance service to call me, interrupting my call to Samaritans. They sent a mental health team to my door. For goodness sake....this was neither asked for or warranted. The LAS and paramedics agreed this was not my fault. Satisfied themselves that I was trying to help myself and left.

The following two days there was need for me to call 111 again to ask for help. I was not crying, I asked if a 111 DR could call me. I'm losing the thread of the last few days to be honest as its resulted in my being told not to call 111. So....ok) I won't as I don't want to be put through this again. I have spoken to my GP who I consult with as necessary. I'm a vulnerable adult who just had part of her crisis plan shredded by 111. Unbelievable.
