"Excellent care after I raised my complaints"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Prior to addressing my concerns, I can’t fault the staff in altnagelvin, honestly they were all absolutely amazing who looked after me. The care and compassion I received was phenomenal. One staff didn’t understand my pain at one point until I showed it to her and I cried out and told her she made me feel horrible. She quickly realised how she made me feel and apologised and afterwards she was incredible.

After I raised my complaints about a staff member who did treat me badly one night shift. I was really listened to, I was always kept up to date on everything and told everything. I would like to mention some of the incredible girls who genuinely took their time to look after me and make sure I had an amazing time during a difficult time.

Brogan, Ashley (ward sister), Judith, Megan student midwife, Maria, Pauline ( breastfeeding), Pauline the midwife. Aoife - student midwife

I can’t remember everyone else’s name but these girls above have seriously made my stay unforgettable and phenomenal with excellent care and compassion and love. I APPRECIATE IT.  You are all a credit to the hospital.

I wish I could write more, but honestly I cannot explain the amazing care I was given by these girls. I’ll be forever grateful. I was properly listened to, given all the help I asked for, my baby was well cared for if I needed anything. Just everything, these girls have been outstanding . Breastfeeding support has been incredible and honestly so grateful for it.

Thank you VJSA for your positive care opinion, as midwives we really enjoy hearing about the excellent work and experiences that we provide to our mums. I am delighted that you felt supported and listened to after raising your care concern. It is excellent feedback also for the team to read about your positive breastfeeding experience, as we really understand and appreciate the challenges that some mums face establishing feeding following surgery. We are delighted to have been able to support you with this.

I will ensure that your positive care opinion is shared with all the staff and students mentioned and again thank you and congratulations!!
