"I struggled to deal with what had happened"

About: Airdrie Locality Support Service / Integrated Rehab Team Cumbernauld Locality Support Service / Integrated Rehabilitation Team

(as a service user),

I suffered a stroke earlier in the year which resulted in the loss of movement in my right arm and leg. I was in my early 40s at the time of my stroke and struggled to accept that I had one as I always associated strokes with older people with other health issues. I am an active person, non smoker, not really a drinker, never taken any drug and have no other health issues so couldn’t understand why I had a stroke. Emotions were all over the place as I struggled to deal with what had happened. The care I have received is outstanding and in my opinion nothing could be improved.
