We recently welcomed our beautiful second daughter into the world. Both our babies were born in the hospital and the care we received was unbelievable, particularly our last little girl.
During the last week, I developed high blood pressure and had to come to come up a few times to EOU & the community hub in ards. Vicky in EOU, was great! I was very nervous about why this was happening as my BP was always perfect so I couldn’t understand why this was the case. She made me feel so at ease and reassuring.
Things then moved very quickly. I went up one day at 1pm with cramps, I was in quite bit of pain in EOU & again I was very fortunate Vicky looked after me, she examined me and then realised I may have been a lot further on than I thought. She made a call to the delivery suite, took me up on the bed and was greeted by a lovely student nurse and the amazing Judith. I arrived in at 2:50, and when I got on the bed, Judith told me this wee baby would be here very soon, me thinking a few hours, and literally 12 minutes later, 15:01 our daughter was born!
Judith was exceptional, what a woman she is! Kind, caring, reassuring and very calm! She talked me through the after process such as delivering the placenta followed by the stitches, I love it when they say “happy birthday” to the little babies! This is so personal and made me very emotional! Judith kept coming in to check on my husband, daughter and I as due to the shortage of beds, we were in the delivery suite for quite some time, however it meant we were able to enjoy our newborn bubble together in privacy! Judith really is exceptional at what she does, she really is a real life hero who made my birthing experience much more special!
The after care in the ward, was also great! I did have to stay in a few nights extra due to the BP but again, all the midwives and nursing assistants were very caring and helpful during my admission. I would like say a massive thank you to all the staff who I dealt with throughout my pregnancy, but a special mention to my 2 real life heroes, Judith & Vicky! 2 absolute superstars! Xxxxx
