"Working through a difficult period and not recognising myself."

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as the patient),

Things all started when I was noticing how I didn't have much care for myself, others and all round just didn't feel like myself the same way I used to years ago. I kept things bottled up for a few years until I built up the courage to reach out for help. I applied for some kind of therapy and was recommended to Inclusion Thurrock and met Jade in a matter of weeks.

Speaking with Jade for the first time and speaking about how I have felt for a few years was quite scary to begin with but Jade was incredibly patient and understanding letting me explain my story and what I had been dealing with; over the weeks I grew more confident to speak about my experience and open up about my life which I had never done before even with my family.

As the weeks went on, Jade provided me with the support and techniques to use in my day to day life to help me, I tried things I never would have done without her suggestions and come to realise quite quick that it helped me a lot to overcome some of the difficulties I was facing.

The sessions only lasted a few months which surprised me as I wasn't expecting to find myself improving so drastically but I found that I didn't want to only do make changes in my life for myself, but also my partner and others.

As someone who is typically quiet and shy, keeping things to myself, I found myself looking forward to the sessions to say how I had been making changes and showing that I really appreciated all the support Jade was providing.

Even though it was only for a short period of time, I'm immensely grateful for everything Jade done to support me as I found enjoyment again in things I was doing in life and I didn't feel emotionless the way I did when first starting therapy. I'm slowly starting to feel like myself again and would recommend to anyone who's scared of therapy, don't shy away as it can make a big difference.
