"They made me feel like I was in a room with pals"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by several nurses and made to feel so comfortable. The whole colonoscopy process was made 10000x easier by the fabulous team - Sarah, Lesley and Jen.

Sarah, the student nurse was so transparent and helpful with information and stayed with me throughout the entire procedure. She was a superstar and is the reason I didn’t panic atall as I was nervous before I chatted with her!

The nurses in the procedure room made the colonoscopy feel like a walk in the park! They chatted with me, laughed with me and made me feel like I was in a room with pals! Even the endoscopist Dr Blackwell was involved in the chat/laughs and would talk me through what was happening at all points.

I’m normally an NHS Lothian patient, but I am so glad my colonoscopy was scheduled for Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline because I’ve never met a nicer team of nurses and doctors! I definitely was in the safest hands!

Thank you for making a scary experience so much more bearable for a young girl :)

Dear tigerry85

Thank you so much for taking time to feedback about your recent visit to the Regional Endoscopy Unit here at Queen Margaret. It was a delight to read your very kind comments about our team. Especially your comment about our lovely student nurse Sarah who is showing great potential. She is so passionate about her training and will be a great asset where ever her chosen pathway takes her.

I agree with you that being kept informed throughout your journey is paramount. The teams knowledge and understanding of their patients individual needs is vital, it puts the patient at ease and makes their time with us a more positive experience. A little bit of laughter does go a long way especially when all are involved, but keeping everything professional at the same time makes you feel very much in 'safe hands'.

I will take great delight passing on your very kind comments to the team especially those you have named. I hope you have recovered well, any future appointment you know where we are

Kindest regards

Ann Walker SCN
