"She was my biggest advocate"

For the last few years I have been receiving care from Dr Houston at Tams Brig Medical Practice in Ayr. I have many serious physical health issues on top of which I went through a period where I had a major mental health breakdown which included trying to end my own life on many occasions.

I am of the honest opinion that had I not had such a good GP I would not be here today. When other services failed me she was my biggest advocate, she fought to get me the help I needed with phone calls, letters and whatever was needed and went above and beyond in the level of care that a GP usually gives with weekly phone calls and nothing was too much trouble.

She set up care from other services to enable me to progress with my journey that I would never even have thought about but the best part of it all was her compassion and empathy were outstanding compared to other experiences I have had and she kept giving me hope through the darkest and scariest of times. She is definitely one in a million and I am so grateful to have had as my GP
