"Out of Hours GMeds"

About: Aberdeen Health and Care Village / GMED General Practices in Grampian NHS 24 / Breathing Space (Phoneline)

(as the patient),

Firstly, I want to credit NHS24 where it is due. They deal with my calls quickly in regards to my mental health in the manner they have been asked to and, I can 100% say that it makes such a positive difference to me as a patient.

I also wanted to say thank you to the GMeds service for their care and support around my mental health. They work incredibly hard and, have been there every single time when my mental health has been struggling at night or the weekend. The look after me as well as my own GP practice and that is entirely to their credit!!

Senior GPs in particular, know me quite well, Dr D'Costa, Dr Adaeze, Dr Caskey and Dr Thomson. I'm really grateful for their time and compassion in a time when I've really needed it.

They continue to support me regularly and, I know I would be much worse off without them. They do an incredible job and I'm very thankful to them.

Dear Aberdeen30,

Thank you for sharing such kind words with us about the services you have encountered on your mental health journey. I can see you have mentioned a few different services in your story and it's heartening to hear that each one has worked to deliver the support you need, with compassion, when youve needed it. I know it can sometimes be challenging to find the right services at the right time.

I am responding on behalf of NHS Grampian and hope to be able to pass your story to the GP's mentioned (I will need some help from you to do that). Most of the GP Practices in Grampian are independently run and aren’t registered to respond to feedback received via Care Opinion. They don’t routinely access the feedback either so the practice won’t see this without it going straight to them. The best option is to contact the practice and share your feedback with the practice manager directly. I understand this means revealing your identity and not everyone feels comfortable doing that, so if you’d like, I can pass this feedback to them. If you would like me to do that can you please share the name of the practice using one of the options below:

a) add to the feedack box below

b) send to me by email (kirsten.dickson@nhs.scot) or text/phone (07885720267)

Hope to hear from you soon, take care.

Kirsten

Hello again Aberdeen30,

Just a quick update to my response above. My colleague has kindly highlighted that the GP's you have mentioned are all working with GMed - so there is no need for you to get in touch with me to share further details as she can forward your kind words easily. I'm sorry I misunderstood your post! My GMed colleague will be in touch soon with a response from the service.

Take care,

Kirsten

Dear Aberdeen30,

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion. It is greatly appreciated that you have taken the time to share your positive feedback with us.

I understand from your story there were multiple services involved in providing your care. I reply on behalf of NHS 24.

I was pleased to read that the support you have received has had a positive impact on your mental health and that your calls to NHS 24 have been dealt with quickly.

If you would like to share more information with me regarding your contact with NHS 24, I could identify our staff who managed your calls and share your Care Opinion story with them. We always ensure our staff see positive feedback to reinforce to them how valued their care is when people call our service.

You can contact me or our Patient Experience Team at patient.experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Please don’t hesitate to call Breathing Space or our dedicated Mental Health Hub should you feel you ever need support. Breathing Space can be contacted Monday-Thursday 6pm to 2am and from 6pm on Friday to 6am on Monday. Calls to Breathing Space are free of charge, and the service can be contacted on 0800 83 85 87. Our Mental Health Hub is also available at all times by dialling 111 and selecting the Mental Health option. Like calls to 111, calls to our Mental Health Hub are free.

I wish you well and thank you again for sharing your story.

Kind regards,

Andrew
