"Overall a very good service."

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Emergency department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a service user),

Following a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) I was quickly assessed by 2 paramedics at the scene. I was in shock and the ladies assessed me thoroughly and calmed me in a traumatic time. I was able to go home feeling reassured that I had no major injuries.

I visited the Emergency Department the following day with chest pain and had a heart tracing and x-ray and discharged within 4 hours.

The Emergency Department was very busy but I felt there was a lot of staff present to deal with the numbers. My fracture was missed at this visit, however emergency department consultant contacted me the next day to confirm and give me medical advice.

I was disappointed it wasn't picked up immediately, however glad the  x-rays were reviewed and my chest pain was explained.

Several weeks after I requested physio appointment through my GP team. I got a head to toe mobility check and assurance that I was fit to return to work.

Overall a very good service.

Good morning pictorbe65

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. First Contact Physiotherapy, which is available in some GP practices across the region is a relatively new service, and due for further roll out. It is great to hear the service was useful to you following your injury, and you felt the examination was comprehensive. I wish you well for your continued recovery.
