"HIV diagnosis and no limits to life"

About: HIV North Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent

(as a service user),

2019 I was diagnosed with HIV and reached out to the Stoke sexual health team.  I was met with a range of professionals who helped support me with my diagnosis.. As with any life change disorder I suffered low mood but felt supported by the clinical nurse Peter who is now retired!   Within weeks my condition was reported to be Undetectable U=U.  My limited knowledge as a gay man had thought my time was over and I expected to have a limited time to live.   Those days are no more.  U=U means that.  You can’t pass it on..  keep to your medication and dose. Take up routine health care and stay positive.  Your meds will not stop working ..  and you will live as long as anyone else.   Your health care will be far better managed as your having regular routine support from experts in the field.   Stoke staff have helped me on my journey to understand there are no limits to life.  And they are always happy friendly bunch of people.   I couldn’t want for anything more
