"I wish I had seen someone that could make a decision"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I have recently seen a consultant about fertility issues, unfortunately the consultant I had seen before was unavailable for the appointment and I was seen by someone else. I have also been to a private consultant and had an investigation done. I was told that I do not ovulate and would need medication to support me to fall pregnant.

The consultant recommended that I have a blood test on day 2/4 which I have already had done. Then another on day 25 of this cycle and the next. My cycles can sometimes be 120 days so I worry this will be a long investigation, as well as a costly one for the NHS when I have already paid privately for the initial investigation to be done.

I feel that I didn't matter. The consultant that replaced the person I was supposed to see made me feel like they were trying to complete a tick sheet instead of listening to what I had to say. Fertility is a serious issue and one that comes with heartache and pain and I don't believe they cared that telling me I might have to wait over 150 days to have a blood test (due to the length of my menstrual cycle) would upset me.

The nurse that chaperoned an internal and the student nurse were very kind and supportive.

Not seeing the consultant that I was scheduled to see meant the consultant I did see wasn't happy to make any decisions as they stated they would have to check with the doctor and they might want a scan. I wish I had seen someone that could make a decision.

I have since emailed my consultant and had no reply. I sent all the results and scans from the private clinic and have received nothing to indicate these results are being considered.
