"The support I received was invaluable"

As a first time Mum who really struggled with the initial weeks of breastfeeding, the support I received from Breastfeeding Support Fife was invaluable.

I developed thrush (as did my baby) and mastitis in one breast. The team gave me really great advice over the phone about treatments, what to ask my GP for in terms of medicine and how to help clear both issues. I also had two in person visits to help me with my baby’s latch (feeding was agony for the first 6/7 weeks) which were so helpful and gave me the confidence that things would get better. They also followed up with informative videos on baby’s latch. The fact that we have this service for free is unbelievable really, we are so lucky to have access to this kind of support.

Dear Fifemummy,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your positive experience with the Breastfeeding Support Team. I am sorry to hear that you experienced a number of challenges in the early weeks of breastfeeding and I congratulate you for continuing through, what sounds like, a painful time.

It's great to hear that the team helped you and gave you confidence in finding a way forward. I have shared your comments with the team too, who will love to hear that they made a difference to you.

Best wishes,
Louise
