Last week I was at St Michael's Hospital, Hayle, for surgery for breast cancer.

A small part of the care, which I hardly noticed at the time, was that the nurse gave each of us having this surgery a little heart-shaped cushion in a pretty floral pattern. It was suggested that I could use it between my arm and my wound to keep more comfortable.

I didn't pay much attention to it on the day, but in the days since, it has been my constant companion because it has made such a difference to how comfortable I am with the surgery site.

I am so pleased to hear that you found the heart shape cushion useful and that it has made you comfortable during your recovery. I have fed your lovely feedback to the team on the ward, and they were very grateful. They informed me that they have a group of dedicated volunteers who make these cushions for us to give to every patient that has breast surgery and were so pleased to hear that you found it useful, and it provided you with the comfort that you needed. They intend to pass your comments back to the volunteers, so they know how much their efforts are appreciated.

It's always lovely to hear directly from the patients themselves and the team on the ward were very thankful. We wish you all the very best with your continued recovery.
