I had developed bilateral cataracts and was referred by my optician to the ophthalmology department in the Royal Hospital in Belfast. After being seen by the consultant, I was referred to the day procedure unit in the Downe hospital.
My experience with this episode of care was excellent. The consultant was patient centred and attentive to my concerns and questions. They answered all my questions and detailed in the procedure and outcomes and expectations.
I received my appointment for surgery approx 4 weeks later to attend the Downe hospital for my pre assessment. This was also excellent and thoroughly carried out.
The first surgery was carried out without complication, the admission though to discharge was also carried out with skill and professionalism from all the staff with excellent patient centred care.
I received my second reassessment within 6 weeks after my review for the first surgery. The second surgery was a replication of the first surgery, carried out with expertise and professionalism with the staff very attentive with detailed service.
I fully commend all the staff for their dedication to providing the highest standards and quality of care and would like to thank them for their support and advice and giving me my sight back.
"Dedication to providing the highest standards"
