"Saw me as an inconvenience"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Gynaecology Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Women's outpatient clinics and investigations

(as a service user),

I had a stay recently. The nurses were lovely but upon entry I was advised I was not a priority. My blood count had dropped so not sure how that could be seeing as I was actively bleeding and they ended up giving me a transfusion of blood and iron. I was told I was getting the coil. Almost pressured, no choices given. When I asked about other options I was told I was running out of options other then remove my uterus or burning my lining, an unusual drastic reply for someone who isn't urgent, surely?

Anyway I ended up taking a pill and it's helped so clearly options weren't exhausted. The doctor never came to see me, I felt unseen and they also had the audacity to write to my doctor and cancel some routine meds that I need, now I have to chase them to get what I need because they're not medication you can just stop; this was followed up with my rheumatologist who confirmed they should not have been stopped.

All in all I believe the doctor saw me as an inconvenience. (I wasn't gonna write this, I was going to have it out with them directly however seeing other people write similar reviews for heavy periods I can see exactly the view this doctor appears to hold and therefore let's call it out.) Unacceptable to make someone feel that way when they eventually go to hospital they are exactly where they belong.

Dear Don'tdecidewhoslifeisworthit,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, I am glad to read you have found something that has helped but saddened to read this has been your experience and that you have been left feeling this way following the clinic.

I would like to understand more of your concerns, however as care opinion is an anonymous forum it is difficult for me to investigate your concerns and offer any additional information relating to your care without personal contact. I wonder if you would be able to speak with me on the telephone or meet with me so that I can review your care and take forward any learning for staff. My contact details are below.

Yours
