"The staff were excellent, friendly and professional"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

The staff were excellent, friendly and  professional in the Day Care unit

As I was having the procedure with a local anaesthetic I really appreciated the cup of tea in a real mug

However I find the lack of privacy in the waiting area uncomfortable

You can hear every word of the patients' interactions with the nurses. At least the screens should be pulled around you whilst you are in discussion

Unfortunately I found the procedure to be quite painful

As  I was unaware what expect I did not raise this with the doctor performing the operation until the end and they said they would write it on my notes for next time ! It should have been painless

I think it would have been helpful if they had said at the start If you feel any pain let me know by raising your hand

However it was a success and I am delighted with how much my vision improved in the hours following the operation

Thank you to the Consultant and the whole team who were on shift in the day care ward

Dear Lydia562,

Thank you for sharing your experience of UHH, Day Surgery.

I'm sorry you procedure was painful that must have been quite distressing. I am glad that you found the team excellent, friendly and professional. It must have helped to make you feel at ease while you were waiting before and after you Cataract Surgery.

I will pass on your kind words to the whole team who I am sure will be delighted to hear how their care impacted your experience.

I hope you are doing well.

Kind Regards,

Christine
