"Above & Beyond ❤️"

About: Maternity care / Consultant Led Unit Maternity care / Maternity Assessment Maternity care / Maternity Ward

(as the patient),

I would like to give a huge shout out to maternity services at Victoria Hospital. I cannot thank everyone enough, from the moment I found out I was pregnant to the moment we came home from the hospital, the care I received was second to none.

Although my birth did not go to plan, or turn out how I envisioned, I was made to feel at ease and calm during the whole thing.

Everyone who cared for me was amazing, but I’d like to give a special mention to-

Zara (or Sara) from maternity triage - I unfortunately had to attend maternity triage on multiple occasions and was lucky enough to be looked after my Zara on multiple occasions, to the point where when I went in for my induction and was told she would be helping out and doing it, I was delighted. She made me feel so at ease every time.

Harriet in induction ward - Harriet was amazing from the moment she stepped foot into my room on the induction suite. She came in at the beginning of her shift to familiarise herself with my care, asked questions and explained absolutely everything perfectly. I started getting contractions while in her care and she really helped both me and my partner understand what was happening at all times. She asked the anaesthetist to come and speak to us which was particularly useful, considering I ended up with a section.

Recayah in consultant led unit - Recayah took over my care when I went to get my waters broken in the consultant led unit and stayed with me until the end of her shift. I can’t thank Recayah enough - although I can’t remember too much from my labour, my partner reassures me that Recayah’s care was fantastic. A lot of things were happening and Recayah was ensuring I received adequate care throughout my whole labour. I know my partner really appreciated Recayah’s support particularly when things were not progressing as they should be and things became a little scary.

Sarah (student) in consultant led unit - Sarah was fantastic and deserves a special mention. She will make an excellent midwife!

I had hoped to return back to the maternity unit and present those who helped me with a small gift as a token of our appreciation, however due to having a newborn and life being busy I have not managed.

Thank you again and I would appreciate if these positive words could make their way back to those who deserve to hear them!

Thank you again.
