"Confidentiality and the services available"

First I asked if the person carrying out this interview was the counsellor I would see, as confidentiality is a major part to what I will share with a counsellor. I was assured it would be safe. I was still not comfortable.

I then shared what were very private and difficult issues for me, at no point was I interrupted to be told my issues were something this service could not handle.

I then received a further call advising me my issues would be better handled by a different service. I was very disappointed.

I also feel violated in that I have shared extremely private information, which was very difficult for me.

This should have been stopped during the interview and made clear this service could not help. Surely you know as a counselling service what a client has to go through to share their needs.
