"My recovery"

About: Motherwell Locality Support Service / Addictions recovery team Motherwell Locality Support Service / Community mental health team outreach

(as the patient),

I suffered a mental health breakdown at the end of January this year. I had many contributing factors as to why this happened, once in my crisis stage I very quickly got the help of addiction services, community mental health team and psychiatry.

I was addicted to alcohol and also using substances to deal with my depression and wanted to end my life. I had such a good support from all these services. I am now 7 months sober back to work full time and I am happy to be here.

My life has changed so much for the better due to help from NHS I am able to function as a normal person and my little boy has a sober mum who is able to care for him. I am able to deal with problems in life without reaching for alcohol which I never thought I could do. I am now discharged from addictions and still working with psychiatry.

I am very grateful to the NHS for getting me the help I needed.

Thank you for the above comment and I will pass this onto the teams. It is very humbling to read that we have made a difference for the better in your life and that we were able to offer support on your recovery.
