"I can't praise the team enough"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

Following a brush with Prostate Cancer in 2005 my prostate was removed but my PSA levels increased so I had to have radiotherapy at Christies in Manchester which left me totally incontinent.

I had an artificial sphincter implanted in 2009 which was a Godsend!

However, I started to suffer from scar tissue in my urethra and Prof Sinclair and the wonderful team operated 3 times to remove the scar tissue. Finally my urethra was too thin to support the cuff wrapped around it.

So I had to have the sphincter removed in May this  year after 15 years in situ, Prof Sinclair and team removed the damaged section of the urethra and spliced it back together again. After 4 months and healing well I will have a new artificial sphincter implanted to improve my incontinence.

So I can not praise the Urology team at Stepping Hill enough for their care over this difficult time. A wonderful dedicated team!
