"Unexplained calf pain"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Queen Margaret Hospital / Out-of-Hours

(as a relative),

My mother had  severe unexplained calf pain . I called 111 and was given an out of hours appointment at QM hospital Dunfermline. We felt scared but then reassured.

Update posted by YvAn (a relative)

We were very well taken care of, the call handler when we called 111 was amazing and professional while we waited a call from the nurse. The appointment was swift and the nurse we saw ( Fiona I believe) just wonderful. She checked my mums calf, being very thorough and checked her general health to make sure there wasn’t something else going on. We are so very grateful

Dear YvAn

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion. I am sorry to learn you had cause to contact 111 on behalf of your mother, however it’s great to hear that she was given an appointment to be seen at Out of Hours which reassured you both. I see you have provided an update advising that the NHS 24 Call Handler was 'amazing and professional' which is fantastic to hear.

If you wish to share some more information with me, then I could identify the staff who managed your call to NHS 24 and share your Care Opinion story with them. We always like to ensure that staff see positive feedback to reinforce for them how valued their care is when people call our services.

You can contact me by email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Thank you again for sharing your experience and I hope your mother is doing well.

Kind regards

Stephanie
