"We felt supported and informed in decisions"

About: Maternity Care (Wards 21-24) / Day Assessment Unit Maternity Care (Wards 21-24) / Maternity Ultrasound

(as a service user),

We attended for our 12 weeks scan and found baby had a high NT fluid it was quickly explained what that could mean.

The foetal medicine midwives and Dr Walker had a consultation with us and answered all our questions. We felt supported and informed in decisions and didn’t feel under pressure in any way. The midwives were fantastic and it felt like we could phone anytime for reassurance.

After bloods came back high risk we decided to have the CVS this was preformed quickly and explained well Dr Walker talked us through everything and when I took unwell after she came to check on us in the ward and even did a scan to reassure me again that baby was ok and let us hear her heartbeat.

The midwives regularly checked in and supported us their phone calls were professional but comforting at such a difficult time. After some additional scans we were discharged from foetal medicine and we now have a healthy baby girl.

I can’t thank the team enough for their support
