"Awful wait times "

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Visited on 5/09/24, wait for the scan was great but then had to wait for 2 hours for a follow up meeting. We were advised that this service always runs behind as they only allocate short appointments and everyone runs over causing delays. Seems very inefficient and not very person centred

Dear John,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on NHS Website in respect of your recent Gynaecology Outpatient appointment at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital.

I am very sorry to hear of your recent experience and have fed your comments back to senior staff. The Matron for Gynaecology apologises that your experience within the Gynaecology out-patients was not as you expected. We have recently implemented a one stop service to reduce the number of appointments patients need to attend. Unfortunately, sometimes patients do have a wait time between their scan and seeing a consultant. It is unusual for that time to be 2 hours; we would not expect that for our patients, and I apologise this happened in your case.

If you would like to provide further information about your experience you can contact the Patient Experience team by email at patientexperience@elht.nhs.uk

Or if you prefer you can discuss further any concerns you may have about our services with our East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Customer Relations team on 01254 733700 or complaints@elht.nhs.uk who can advise you of your options in raising these concerns further.

Many thanks again for taking the time to provide your feedback.

Sarah Ridehalgh

Patient Experience Facilitator
