"Unable to get through for breast screening appointment"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Nottingham Breast Institute

(as the patient),

Either they don't have enough staff to answer calls  or they are overwhelmed with calls for a breast screening appointment. I have tried 5 times today without success.

The system cuts you off after a few minutes. There is no idea of how long to wait or where you are in the queue. My GP has a system which says where you are in the wait queue. Just what is happening?

I feel unwanted although the system says we are valued, and it is a waste of time. Breast screening is vital to us.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear of the difficulty you have had getting through to the breast screening service to make an appointment, and the way this has felt for you.

We hope that since you have posted this review you have been able to get through to the service, and we will share your experience with the senior management of that team.

Kind regards

Update posted by Buzz (the patient)

Firstly the direct line no we have on last time appt letter was used. But when the system clicks thro there is no announcement to say 'this is the Nottm Breast screening line', it could be a black hol or the no might have changed.

Secondly apparenty there are too few staff minding the line, off sick or too few or a combination thereof.

Thirdly no I tried 6 times to get through, kept waiting and then abbruptly cut off three times twice at as long as 6 mins, when I thought progress was being made. The rest just told too many phoning ring later.

The usual patter of 'your call is important to us' doesn't ring true for me.

IN the end I had to waste a half day travelling across town to do a personal visit and got an appt.THere were very helpful staff there but to waste all this time
