I have just had a newborn baby. I am struggling with breastfeeding. The baby has latched on and is feeding but I am struggling as I feel like I don’t have freedom to do anything else but breastfeed my baby as he is constantly wanting fed.
Even simple things like going to the bathroom has been giving me anxiety as I am worried my baby will cry and nobody else will be able to help as when he wants fed, it is only myself who is able to do this. I feel like it is all affecting my mental health.
Ana from the New Victoria came out today and I got quite emotional. She was so supportive and we spoke about breastfeeding. She showed me a different position to feed my baby and explained how breastfeeding is best. I liked the new position that she showed me as I found it very comfortable, however I explained to Ana that I am struggling mentally and that I wanted to maybe add formula to feed my baby.
Ana made me feel comfortable and relaxed and even though she explained how breastfeeding is best, she also explained how important it is to look after my mental health first. She didn’t judge me when I told her that I was thinking of adding formula into my baby’s diet, instead she was very supportive with my decision if it was something that I wanted to do.
When Ana left my home, I felt more confident and happy! We need more people like her in the world!!
"She made me feel comfortable and relaxed"
