"Heart bypass surgery"

About: Fife Community Services / Community Cardiac Specialist Service General practices in Fife Queen Margaret Hospital / Cardiology Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiology & Coronary Care Unit Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / High Dependency Unit & Intensive Care Unit

(as a service user),

I was told at 54 I needed a quadruple heart bypass and I was totally blown away but knew if I had to enjoy future life and retirement in the long term I needed to get this done as soon as possible.

I was allocated a cardiac nurse at Edinburgh royal infirmary called Carol who was very supportive and friendly and my consultant Mr Giordano who was extremely passionate about my welfare and treated me as an individual and cared about me.

I spent time in ITU and HDU and all the staff were fantastic and professional. Once I left hospital care the follow up care was very good ,I attended a clinic at dunfermline Queen Margaret where I met Nisha over a few weeks and I also attended my local gp nurse Emma at Kelty medical practice who assisted with dressings on my scar due to complications and gave me loads of reassurance that things will improve in time.
