"Appalling service and complete lack of care"

About: Salford Royal

Experienced an ever-increasing wait time (which was 7 hours upon arrival, and 15 hours by the time I left). Had no choice to leave without ever seeing a doctor after 15 1/2 hours.... being told everything from "you're the next on the list" to "there's 3 patients in front of you". Particularly infuriating is the priority treatment any patient in handcuffs seemed to receive.

Completely insincere, fake empathy is not helpful to people who are suffering with potentially serious conditions- reasonably prompt and professional care should be available.

I felt I had no other option than to leave to seek treatment elsewhere, despite having blood pressure through the roof and a possible pneumothorax.

Overall appalling experience - I thoroughly recommend using any other A&E in the Greater Manchester (or Bolton) area.

We were sorry to hear of your experience when you attended the A&E department and that you felt you had no alternative but to leave without treatment due to an excessive waiting time.

Our aim is always to see and treat patients in a timely manner, prioritising patients in order of who present with symptoms of a potentially life-threatening illness or injury.

Without more detail, we are unable to comment on the departmental pressures, therefore we encourage you to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) either via 0161 778 5665 between 09:30 hours and 16:30 hours Monday to Friday or email: pals@nca.nhs.uk. Your care episode can be identified and can thoroughly investigated, allowing the team to provide feed back to you regards this.

In the meantime, please ask for an urgent GP appointment or get help from NHS 111 if you're worried the symptoms are getting worse or are not getting better.
