I had an arthroscopy on my left knee at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre recently (carried out as day surgery).
I wanted to write to note the outstanding care I received from everyone during the day of my surgery. Most importantly the care was high quality - I am back walking again and my knee is healing well. But just as important was the kind and compassionate care I received. Everyone I met was attentive to my needs and very patient with me - whether that was taking time to explain things or waiting as I moved around slowly. Discussions with the surgeon and the anaesthetist prior to surgery about expected outcomes and risks focused on what was important to me. This helped reassure me and made me feel like I was participating in decisions about my care.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to my care that day. Unfortunately, I don't remember everyone's names but they included surgeon Mr Middleton, staff on the day ward: Mary, Aleena and Emma, and physiotherapist Gabie. Please would you pass this message on to them.
"Everyone was attentive to my needs and very patient"
