"Good phone call"

About: Maternity care / Community Midwives

(as a service user),

I had a miscarriage around 6 weeks and had to call the community midwifery team to cancel a pre-arranged appointment. I did this a few days after miscarrying and was still very emotional at the time of call.

I spoke with a community midwife called Kate who was lovely and therefore I wanted to highlight this. I felt she was caring and considerate despite me being a total stranger crying on the other end of the phone. She appeared empathetic and ensured I had someone with me for emotional support.

She also signposted me back into the team should I have needed any more support. I want to say thank you to Kate as she gave me the reassurance/support I needed at that moment, making a really difficult task not so difficult.

Dear maf69,

I am really sorry to hear of your miscarriage and hope you have the support you need in place. I understand this will be a difficult time for you and really appreciate you sharing your positive experience with Kate.

I will personally share with Kate, how she made you feel reassured and supported. This will mean a great deal to Kate, to hear of your appreciation and thanks.

Wishing you best wishes for the future

Pamela
