The Inclusions staff (especially the nurses) are a great means of support at HMP Stafford. They are around for emotional support and they do everything they can do to help you.
But facilities are lapse and there is a lack of options and roadways to rehabilitation at their disposal. Prisoners struggle to get actual diagnosis to seek the proper mental health help they they need due to it being hards to see a qualified psychiatrist or doctor.
I recently did the Trauma Informed course as I have potential PTSD, the course was excellent in terms of support and letting patients know they are not alone, but a lot of what we learnt seemed common sense and self apparent, even patronising.
The therapeutic techniques I was taught and advised to use were useless in my circumstances and I was left feeling more lost than I did before I started the course, but the support was appreciated whether I felt I learned anything new or not.
I feel the service needs more professionals able to diagnose symptoms and put a label on things so that prisoners can seek appropriate help in and out of prison, giving them better chances of rehabilitation.
