I was rushed into A&E late one night due to a COPD flare-up, and I was truly amazed by the swiftness and efficiency of the treatment I received from both the Ambulance team and the A&E staff at the York Teaching Hospital. Their professionalism and care were outstanding, and by the following afternoon, I found myself on Ward 34, the Respiratory Ward.
From the moment I arrived on the ward, the entire team made a huge impact on me. Nurses like Elle, Evie, Millie, Ruth, Bryn, Sue-Ellen and Michael provided care with such kindness and compassion. I must also mention Ibrahim, the 5th-year student doctor who was attentive and reassuring, as well as Bill, who ensured I was well-fed and hydrated with a smile, and Brian, who tirelessly kept the ward clean and comfortable for everyone.
Each member of the team played a vital role in my recovery, and I couldn’t possibly single out one person—they were all exceptional. They helped me through what was a very difficult time with a level of care, kindness, and positivity that gave me hope and confidence in my recovery. It’s truly incredible how they manage such demanding work with constant cheerfulness and unwavering generosity.
