"An outstanding nurse"

About: Queen's Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as a relative),

My mother is in her 80s, she recently had a fall and banged her head. She was taken from her care home by ambulance to Queen's Hospital, Romford A&E (the ambulance intake part).

She was placed in a corridor and was there for most of the twelve hours or so she remained in hospital. There is a lot that could be said about how unpleasant this whole experience was (the overcrowding, the terribly long wait, the fact my mum was missed off the list for a head scan etc). Most of this is to do with the longstanding problems with the NHS.

However, in the midst of all this, the senior nurse assigned in charge of the corridor ward overnight, whose name was Beth, was absolutely outstanding. She was helpful, efficient, in control, personable and working extremely hard for every minute of the many hours we were there.

She handed out pillows, reassured people, made sure all meds and prep for the doctors was accurate and in place etc, etc. I wanted to make a point of mentioning her. She is a credit to the NHS and just the sort of person the NHS need to keep. Absolutely brilliant !
